Even with the advent of digital I do try my best to get it right in camera in the first place. I do shoot a lot of multiple exposures and blend them in Photoshop but I still carry both the .6 soft and .9 hard Graduated Neutral Density Filters from Lee to get it right at the time of exposure. You cannot use these with the 14-24mm f2.8 but for the rest of my lenses they work a treat to compress exposure range and add a little drama to a sky. I prefer the large 100x150mm resin filters from Lee, for the times that you want a 90/10 split with the horizon at the bottom of a vertical frame. Shorter filters just don’t cut it for this sort of shot.
